Meeting and exceeding members and guests expectations!

What is your favourite food item on the Club's menu and why?
The Angus Burger – The best burger in Victoria, maybe even Canada!

What is the most interesting little known fact about the Club that you would like people to know?
The spectacular location, extremely friendly environment and the fact membership to the UClub is open to the UVic and Victoria communities!

What do you like to do when you're not working at the Club?
Spend quality time with my family.

Watching our daughter carry the Olympic Torch at Harrison Hot Springs and perform in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics closing ceremonies at BC Place.

How long have you worked at the Club?
Joined the team in 2018.

What is your favourite aspect of your work?
My favourite aspect of work is the people and work itself. I love coming to work everyday.

What is your favourite food item on the Club's menu and why?
My favourite dish on the menu would have to be the ”Braised Beef Short Rib” on the Camas menu. I love anything braised.

What is the most interesting little known fact about the Club that you would like people to know?
I would say that the hidden gem of the Club other than our staff, is the pond. It is amazing to look at every day!

What do you like to do when you're not working at the Club?
When I am not at work, my time is usually spent working on my home, yard, time with family, or just enjoying life.

What is the last book that you have read?
The last book I read is “The World of Culinary Supervision, Training and Management” by Jerald Chesser. I am currently working on obtaining my Certified Chef de Cuisine designation, so it is a prerequisite for the course. I love anything John Grisham though.

I have lived on beautiful Vancouver Island almost my entire life.
I knew I wanted to cook from a very young age, and most of my high school was taking part in the Culinary Arts Program, graduating at the top of my class.

How long have you worked at the Club?
Joined the team in 2011.

What is your favourite aspect of your work?
The combination of interaction with our members and the detail work of accounting.

What is your favourite food item on the Club's menu and why?
Any of the pasta dishes because pasta is my favourite food group.

What is the most interesting little known fact about the Club that you would like people to know?
Our secluded pond is host to deer, ducks, herons and turtles; it’s a very peaceful, natural setting in the heart of the University campus.

What do you like to do when you're not working at the Club?
Garden and search through used furniture stores for projects and undiscovered antiques.

What is the last book that you have read?
Wind in the Willows

While at the Delta and Fairmont hotels I chaired the Green Teams and still strive to live by the Green principles.
I started in hospitality at the front desk at the Delta Ocean Pointe and worked my way up to Assistant Controller at the Fairmont Empress.
I built custom furniture for a couple of years.
I’ve lived in 7 provinces, one territory and one state and attended 15 schools from kindergarten to grade 12.

How long have you worked at the Club?
I joined the team in June of 2016 to cover a maternity leave. I was lucky enough to be asked back in July 2018 as my predecessor, Laura, is having baby #2!

What is your favourite aspect of your work?
I love working with different people and turning the vision they have for their event into a reality. Seeing all the moving parts come together is very rewarding. No two events are the same and the constant change is exciting.

What is your favourite food item on the Club's menu and why?
The artisan cheese boards the kitchen can put together for events are beautiful.

What is the most interesting little known fact about the Club that you would like people to know?
The club is the perfect venue to host a wide variety of events. We have so many different spaces including the patio, lounges, dining room and meeting rooms so clients can actually expand upon their original vision for their event based on our offerings.

What do you like to do when you're not working at the Club?
I love to take my dog to new hiking & swimming spots on the island.

What is the last book that you have read?
The Happiness of Pursuit – Chris Guillebeau

Travelling is the key to my happiness – I am always planning my next great escape.
I am originally from Ontario but spent most of my twenties in Alberta working in the travel industry and exploring the Rocky Mountains.
